Some may ask "If you do so many areas of photography, how can you be good at any one of them?"
It's a valid question, and here's a strait answer. The core of good solid photography is a fundamental understanding of light. There is some physics involved, but primarily it's more of a knack someone is either born with or acquires through study. Also, an artistic understanding of composition and the human skills to evoke "REAL EMOTION" from a subject are key. Having these skills provides the foundation for all types of photography. While there are certainly fine points that vary the fundamentals are the same from Portrait, to product, to event photography.
This most basic ingredient is sorely lacking in many published photos we see each day. If you don't believe me just take a look at all the junk mail that fills your mailbox each day. Really look at the photos. You will find many examples of poorly lit, composed and executed photos. I'd also invite you to visit any of the low budget wedding photographers sites advertised widely on the net. Too many consumers of photography are not aware of the differences between adequate photos and great photos until it is too late.
